Fishing |

Venice,
which is centrally located directly on the gulf, is the
perfect take-off point to access and enjoy an awesome
fishery. Depending on the season of the year, there are
always different species of fish to catch. Anglers fishing
from shore will find all sorts of accessible fishing holes
to try their luck. Some of the local hot spots such as
the Venice Jettys, Sharky’s Pier, and Caspersen Beach can
be very productive during the right tides and time of day.
Some of the fish you can expect to catch here will be snook,
red fish, sea trout, Spanish mackerel, sheepshead, and
flounder. Be sure to ask one of the many friendly local
anglers to see what baits are working best. For some real
excitement, there is always the option to hire a local
deep-sea charter fishing boat and head west of the beaches
out on the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing for grouper and snapper
is good most any time of the year. Other fish such as
kingfish, cobia, black-fin tuna, greater amberjack, Spanish
mackerel, dolphin (mahi-mahi), shark, barracuda, tarpon,
permit, little tunny, are all caught as they seasonally
migrate through our local waters. Whether you enjoy spending
time fishing from the many shorelines, or getting on a boat
and heading offshore on the Gulf of Mexico in search of
larger species of fish, a wide array of choices abound for
the avid angler.
