Sharon Roush

PRESIDENT OF SARASOTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL – VENICE

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”

– Henry David Thoreau

Sharon Roush was named president of the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital – Venice in June, 2018. She will oversee the design and construction of the 110-bed full-service hospital, slated to open in 2021, and its ongoing operations. Located at the corner of Pinebrook and Laurel roads, the state-of-the-art medical campus will bring Sarasota Memorial’s five-star care closer to South County and provide a wide array of services, including cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics, oncology, neurology, surgery, intensive care, imaging services and many more programs. The 65-acre campus, which also will include a medical office building with physician practices, will be designed to allow for future expansion to meet the community’s growing health care needs.

Sharon has more than 25 years of experience in hospital executive leadership and extensive knowledge of the regional health care landscape. Before joining Sarasota Memorial, she served as CEO of the 138-bed South Bay Hospital in Sun City, FL, for nearly 10 years. Prior to that, she served as CEO for two other hospitals in Florida: Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee and Columbia Hospital in West Palm Beach. Over the course of her career, Sharon has successfully led the development and design of a replacement hospital, implemented strategies that resulted in a hospital’s substantial turnaround and expanded multiple service lines.

Sharon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Maryville College in Maryville, TN. She received her Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is deeply familiar with the community and patients she will serve, as she and her husband, Darryl, have had a home in Sarasota County for nine years and have lived in the area full-time for the past three years.
